Finally, a non-invasive outpatient procedure to treat fibroid tumors.

What is ExAblate?

ExAblateŽ is an innovative new procedure that combines Magnetic Resonance Imaging and guided Focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS) to treat fibroids without the need for surgery. ExAblateŽ is currently in use around the world and is FDA approved for the treatment of uterine fibroids. These benign (non-cancerous) tumors grow within the uterus and affect approximately 20-50% of all women age 35 and older. That means that at least 1 out of every 4 women can be afflicted by this condition.

How does it compare to
other treatments?

Unlike a hysterectomy or myomectomy, focused ultrasound does not require a physician to cut into your body to remove the uterine fibroids. ExAblate leaves the uterus and other reproductive organs intact. Our procedure is also very different than UAE, or uterine artery embolization. Sometimes referred to as uterine fibroid embolization or UFE, this treatment is accomplished by into your groin, placing hundreds of plastic "beads" into your uterine blood vessels. These foreign particles permanently remain in your body following the procedure, therefore a patient who has had this procedure prior to ExAblate can no longer be considered a candidate for this procedure.

Is ExAblate right for me?

ExAblateŽ represents a new paradigm for women who wish to treat their fibroids while retaining their uterus. This advanced medical treatment is conducted in an outpatient setting, without the need for general anesthesia or hospitalization, greatly reducing recovery time and the risks of side effects. Usually within 1 - 2 days, you can return to your daily routine and begin the road to improved quality of life without the distressing symptoms you've had in the past.

If you'd like to see if your insurance covers this procedure.
